Spay & Neuter

For puppies, kittens, and adult pets not yet spayed or neutered

Spay and neuter surgery helps prevent unwanted litters and can reduce the risk of certain health issues later in life. Appointments are required for this procedure — our team will walk you through timing, what to expect on surgery day, and recovery at home.

What to Expect

  1. 1

    Pre-surgical exam

We confirm your pet is healthy and ready for anesthesia with an exam and, when appropriate, bloodwork.

  2. 2

    Anesthesia and monitoring

Your pet is monitored closely throughout the procedure using modern anesthesia protocols.

  3. 3

    The procedure

Spay (for females) or neuter (for males) is performed by our veterinary team the same day, with appointment scheduling required.

  4. 4

    Recovery instructions

You'll go home with clear aftercare instructions, including activity restrictions and incision care.

Recovery & Aftercare

Most pets recover within seven to ten days. We'll send you home with instructions on limiting activity, keeping the incision clean and dry, and using an e-collar if needed to prevent licking. Contact us if you notice swelling, discharge, or your pet seems unusually painful.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best age to spay or neuter my pet?

Recommended timing varies by breed, size, and individual health, generally falling somewhere between five and twelve months of age. We'll recommend specific timing at an exam.

Is anesthesia safe for my pet?

We use modern anesthesia protocols and monitor every patient closely throughout the procedure. A pre-surgical exam, and bloodwork when appropriate, help us confirm your pet is a good candidate before the day of surgery.

Will my pet's personality change after being spayed or neutered?

Most owners notice little change in personality, though some pets show reduced roaming, marking, or heat-related behaviors afterward.

How long until my pet can play normally again?

Most pets are back to normal activity within one to two weeks, following the specific restrictions we give you for the incision to heal properly.

Do I need to do anything before the day of surgery?

We'll give you specific pre-surgical instructions at your appointment, which typically include withholding food for a set number of hours beforehand.

What Does It Cost?

Cost depends on your pet's species, size, age, and sex. We'll provide a specific estimate at your pre-surgical visit so there are no surprises on the day of surgery.
